Beautiful May is here!  The weather has been so iffy this year, so it is nice to see some sun.  Little Lil lives for the summer, and here she is hanging out in between the vegetable garden rows.  Here is a picture of our garden beginnings and we can't wait to savour the fruits of our labour in a few months.





There are many lightweight yarns to knit with this season, and below is a simple drop stitch scarf knit in Schulana's Macaibo, col. #2.



Here's the pattern for this Divine Drop Stitch Scarf:

Using sz 8US needles, c/o 30 sts and knit two rows.
Row 1: *k2, yo twice (wrap the yarn around the needle twice)*, repeat from * to * to last 2 sts, k2.
R2: *K2, drop the next two stitches (the two wraps from the previous
row)*, repeat from * to * to last 2 sts, k2.
Repeat these two rows, leaving enough yarn at the end of the ball for casting off.  After a Row 2, bind off all stitches loosely knitwise.


It's shawl season, and here are a few beauties:

 

Take a look at Catherines's  incredible Cap Shawl (Victorian Lace Today, by Jane Sowerby).  It is absolutely exquisite.  This labor of love took 2000 yards of Ecobutterfly Organics Pakucho Organic Lace Cotton.  Catherine adapted the border to replicate the same leaf pattern that is in the main body of the shawl.  She also used beads throughout- amazing!



 

Here are a few of Julie's gorgeous creations:

Julie knit this Jarod Flood "Bridgewater" shawl using Filatura di Crosa's Centolavaggi lace (2100m) yarn.  It really showcases the garter stitch body and beautiful lace edging.

Here is Michael's Bridgewater, it is stunning!  He knit this with Filigran Lace, col. 2501.  He changed the border pattern as well - beautiful!
 

 

 

I wish you could feel this next shawl.  Julie knit this "Stripe Study" shawl by Veera Valimaki from Malabrigo sock yarn.  It is incredibly soft and "smooshy", and so beautiful.  She used just one skein of the bright Terracotta and one skein of the Alcaucil.


 

Here is Julie's "Chadwick" shawl by Stephen West.  She used Mirasol's Nuna yarn.  The wool, bamboo, and silk blend of this yarn provides a great drape on this shawl.




This is Julie's "Flamboyan" by Stephen West.  Just a beautiful wrap and she knit it using Diamond Luxury Sock yarn.






Even though the weather is warmer, we can't resist showcasing more items knit with Mirasol's "Ushya" yarn.  This is Julie's "Filbert" by Stephen West.  The pattern is available in Westknits Book 2.  Love the large cable and button detail.  Julie added hand crafted antler buttons, available at the Button & Needlework Boutique.  Love this scarf!!
