July/August 2013

It's Blueberry Season!

Blueberries are my favorite fruit, so I always welcome July and August for some great blueberry picking.  They freeze well, and it is always a treat to eat fresh blueberries in the fall and winter months!

We are very excited to be the first Canadian Suppliers to receive the latest yarn, Dyed in the Wool, from Spincycle Yarns.  Kate and Rachel of Bellingham, WA, operate Spincycle Yarns.  They produce gorgeous, one-of-a-kind luxury hand dyed and spun yarns.  They use local fibers as well as sustainable fibers from around the world.

They have been featured in many books and magazines including Vogue and Knit.Wear, and their beautiful yarns have also been featured by designers such as Ann Weaver, Andrea Rangel, Myrrhia Resneck, and Stephen West.

Their newest yarn, Dyed in the Wool, is a 2-ply sock weight Bluefaced Leicester, handspun, superwash yarn. To show off the yarn's unique characteristics, we paired it with solid Shibui sock yarn to create this gorgeous Stephen West Boneyard shawl.  Christine paired the colorway Saddest Place with Shibui's Velvet and Graphite.

Here are some fabulous colorways:

Pussy Willow

Rusted Rainbow

Saddest Place

Snow Hero

Tangled Up in Blue

Tell Tale Heart

Dyed in the Wool sells for $29.95 a skein.
