January, 2013

With so many beautiful designs it is really hard to feature just one or two on these pages.  Be inspired by all that is available and relax into another year of knitting and stitching.  I really like what Shibui Knits is doing by combining their yarns and creating designs with clean lines and great shaping.  Below are just a few.

Shibui Geometry

A collection of uniquely constructed garments and accessories, great for layering and easy to wear.

Hypoteneuse
Knit with two strands of Staccato held together in a tight textured stitch pattern.  An excellent way to learn some new techniques while creating an eye-catching accessory

Radii
Matching hat and armwarmer set with a sporty edge.
Knit with Merino Alpaca, Radii has a dense, plush feel that keeps head and arms warm.

Segment
Knit across the long edge in garter stitch, segment has a deep, plush feel that begs to be touched.  Knit with Silk Cloud and Baby Alpaca.

Parabola
A sheer overlay adds layers of depth to this racerback tank.  The underlayer is knit with Staccato, while the lightweight outer layer uses Silk Cloud for an airy, transparent fabric.  Can be worn as a two-layer tank, or with the top layer pulled up around the neck or schoulders.

Trapezoid
An asymmetrical cardigan with a dynamic shape.  A modern sweater perfect for layering.  The body is knit with Merino Alpaca in twisted stockinette.  The fitted ribbed sleeves are knit with a finer weight (your choice of Sock, Staccato, or Cima)

Mix Pattern No. 6
Baby Alpaca and Silk Cloud add a touch of luxury to this casual slouch hat.
