March, 2012

The trees are in bud and there are bulbs coming up everywhere.  The nights are still cool, though, and the weather is unpredicable.

The spring yarns are arriving, but we are still loving knitting hats - so many great books and patterns to choose from.

Julie has been knitting hats from the book "Weekend Hats" by Cecily Glowick MacDonald and Melissa LaBarre.  This book is just full of gorgeous hats.  This one is the Lea Cloche, knit using Berroco's Blackstone Tweed.  I still have to finsh it with ribbon and a button.

This is the Ruche Beret by Susan B. Anderson.  Knit in Blue Sky Alpaca's Suri Merino

This is Julie's gorgeous Arroyo shawl knit with Malabrigo's Arroyo yarn in the color Glitter.  Just beautiful, and a really interesting pattern.  Get the pattern in the shop:  It is Brooklyn Tweed's "Winnowing".

This stunning shawl is another of Catherine's beautiful works of art.  This Faroese-Style Lace Shawl by Merna A.I. Stahman can be found in the book "Shawls and Scarves, the Best of Knitters Magazine".  Here is another view: absolutely gorgeous, Catherine knit this with Filatura di Crossa's Centolavaggi Lace Yarn, col. 362.

Some great new books have arrived.  Juju's Loops is full of great knits, from wraps, to hats and shawls.

Another great book using Malabrigo yarns.  Vol. 1 also available.

Saturday Treat by Ysolda Teague.  These patterns are pretty additions to your wardrobe, or gifts you know will be treasured.

This is Ysolda's new book, Whimsical Little Knits 3.  Included are patterns for socks, hats, shawls, and more.

I'm making more progress on the "Sampler of Stitches" chart by The Drawn Thread:

This is Spud and Chloe's Baby Leaf Blanket by Susan B. Anderson.  So cute, and a joy to knit in bulky "Outer" yarn.  We used the color Hedge, and it took 3 1/2 skeins.

Here it is open

I had to share this painting with you.  My mom painted this watercolor of Lily checking out the bird bath.  She does this everyday in the summer!

Ahhh..this is the life!
