July, 2012

Summer is here and a great place to enjoy it is Victoria's Butchart Gardens.  This is a picture of the Japanese Garden.

I like to knit all year round, and there are so many luxe yarns arriving in the shop.  Beautiful Merinos, silk and merino blends, alpaca and merino blends, and also some great chunky yarns in beautiful colorways.

These patterns by Assemblage are simple designs but with added details that look absolutely gorgeous knit in some of the wonderful yarn blends we have right now.

This Headband is from the Shibui Knits book "Shibui Texture".  It is knit with their beautiful Merino Alpaca blend yarn.  More from the inside of this book:

Coquille Headband

Knit one's new yarn, Elfin Tweed is an amazing blend of merino, baby llama, bamboo, and donegal.  It is a fine tweed, 28-31sts = 4", and knits up beautifully soft.  These are the colorways:

Another new yarn from Knit One, Crochet, Too is the Seda Rustica.  It is an aran weight yarn (16-17sts = 4") that is a silk and baby llama blend.  So soft and touchable!  Here are the colorways:

July would not be complete without another knit shawl by Stephen West.  This is the "Thendara" shawl from his Third book.  It is knit with Blue Sky Alpaca's Alpaca Silk.  This yarn creates a beautiful draped fabric when knit.
